August 20, 2019

Dear Pratt Elementary Families,

I want to officially welcome all of you to the 2019-2020 school year! Summer has come and gone and we must now move forward with many exciting changes to follow. We have been very busy throughout our campus this summer preparing for the arrival of our students.

I am privileged to have the opportunity to return this school year as your Principal and I feel honored to work with our highly qualified and dedicated staff, our wonderful students, and all of the supportive parents. The elementary years are critical times of development for students and families and I look forward to working with all of you to make this school year successful. I am a lifelong educator and I am committed to students and families as well as a love for learning.

This summer, our teachers have been preparing for teaching the essential knowledge and skills required by the district. Many have attended Professional Development trainings and are prepared to implement many new strategies to differentiate instruction for all of our student’s needs. Our teachers have been working hard in preparing their classrooms and lesson plans that promise to make for another exciting and productive year at Pratt. We give many thanks to our head custodian, Mrs. Kelly who has been working diligently to prepare our campus for the start of the new school year.

I’d like to invite you to visit our school’s website, www.sandites.org/o/pratt-elementary where you will find our latest events and Pratt news by our webmaster, Mrs. Bristow.  This will serve as a resource for all upcoming events, along with the student/parent handbook, and other important reminders that you will have just right at your fingertips.

Additionally, be sure to go to our website for more information on our dismissal procedures. Our parking lot also has adjustments that have been made to keep our students safe so please pay careful attention to the signs and parking lot markings. There, you will find a map of these procedures. Attached, you will find a number of items that need to be returned as soon as possible - Title 1 Compact, School Lunch Program form (whether you need it or not, please send back declination), and Acknowledgement form for handbook. Please return these documents to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. In closing, I look forward to seeing many new and familiar faces. Happy New School Year!

Warmly,

Ms. Bean

Pratt Elementary, Principal
