Ryan Bivin, assistant principal at Charles Page High School and Michelle Spears, business teacher and dance coach at Charles Page High School, were presented with the Sandite Pacesetter Award at tonight's board of education meeting, for their work with the community partner internship program at the high school. Currently 163 students are serving in internships with local businesses.
Spears teaches a workforce preparation class, where students are taught soft skills, how to fill out a resume, interview skills, among others. They bring in guest speakers and take the students on industry tours making contacts for those students, peaking their interest in different careers. "We are the middle-person, connecting them to the community," Bivin said.
