COVID-19 Resources Available at Sandites.org

March 20, 2020

Dear Sandite Families,

As we are at the end of the official Spring Break, we want to update everyone with what we know going forward. We will continue to communicate up to date information as clearly as possible and as frequently as needed during this unprecedented time. As you already know, all schools in the state of Oklahoma are closed until April 6, 2020. It is important for everyone to adhere, to the extent possible, to the recommendations of the CDC. Please work to stay healthy by practicing social distancing and hand washing.  We have created an informational page on our Sandite website at www.sandites.org. There you will find a link called COVID-19 with the latest Q&A from the State Department of Education along with several links to sites with helpful information. Information for our Child Nutrition Feeding Program which will begin next week can also be found there. We will also be connecting with families through our text messaging system and on our official district social media sites.

Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, only essential employees will be working. We will continue to respond to phone calls next week during the work day as quickly as we can. However, the best way to communicate with specific sites will be through email. Email information for administrators and staff can be found on the Sandite website or through our Sandite mobile app.

It is undetermined at this time how public school instruction will continue as of April 6. We are following the guidance of the State Department of Education. Please rest assured our goal is to offer quality instruction to all of our students and more information on the specifics of student learning is forthcoming. The district is conducting a survey with questions regarding our families’ access to the internet and technology devices. This will be sent out through our text messaging system and we would encourage you to please respond. We appreciate your patience in this time of uncertainty. It is an incredible honor to serve the students in Sand Springs and we will always strive to provide a quality program with a high degree of integrity.

Best to everyone,

Sherry Durkee, Superintendent
