Staff Spotlight

Tell us about yourself.

I graduated from Oklahoma State with a bachelor's degree in Science Education and a Master's in Environmental Science. I love teaching science to students so they may become more interested and get into a scientific career of some type. It's great to see the spark in a student's eye when they understand a connection between science and all aspects of the world.

What hobbies do you enjoy?

I enjoy walking/running with my dog Puppy. I enjoy traveling to see beautiful places here on Earth. My husband and I enjoy hiking and usually plan our travels to places that we can hike. My three children keep me very busy even though they are all out of high school. My son is wanting to train as a fireman, one daughter is in law school and the other daughter just started OSU.

Where did you attend high school?

Cleveland H. S.

What extra-curricular activities were you involved in when you were in high school?

I was in the high school marching, concert, and jazz bands. I also was a member of the pep club in high school. Outside of school, I broke and trained horses.

What/who inspired you to become a teacher?

My 6th grade science teacher inspired me about learning science and made it so interesting that I wanted other students to become interested in science like I did.

What advice do you have for high school students?

Enjoy your high school years because you are young and energetic. Make the most of it and respect the fact that you are getting a free education that can help you with the rest of your life.

Where is the best place you've traveled to and why?

Maryland for the aeronautics training. I got to walk where the Civil war soldiers and American Revolution soldiers walked. I visited Ft. McHenry which is where every single first American flag is flown. It's where Francis Scott Key was when he wrote Star Spangled Banner.

What is the best thing about working in the Sand Springs school district?

My co-workers actually do care about each other and want to help each other out as best as possible.
