Staff Spotlight

Tell us about yourself.

I was born in Kansas City, Missouri; then moved to Highlands Ranch, Colorado 1996 and grew up there. I have two brothers, Joe (older) and Ben (younger), who still live in Colorado along with my parents Greg and Christie. I graduated in 2005 and moved to Tulsa to attend The University of Tulsa. I graduated from TU in 2009 with a degree in Exercise Sports Science. I met my husband, Levi (a local-Memorial High graduate) right after he returned from an 18 month tour in Iraq and we were married in November of 2011. We now live out at Keystone lake and have two kids, Lucy (5) and Charley (3), a blue heeler, and 16 chickens!

What/who inspired you to become a teacher?

One of my college professors, Samantha Beams. I never actually thought I would wind up in education, but when I took Pedagogy of Lifetime Activities and Sport Skills, and Physical Activities for Elementary Populations we spent a lot of time in local elementary schools and she would always tell me she thought I would make an excellent teacher (I thought she was nuts!), but look at me now! And I love what I do, by the way.

What advice do you have for high school students?

There is more life to live after high school; what's going on right now might seem like the biggest and most important event ever, but you are still climbing your mountain, and you haven't even come close to the top yet!

What are your top 5 movies in any order?

Good Morning Vietnam
Erin Brockovich
Thelma and Louise
The Big Lebowski
Dirty Harry
