Allie Wright Receives Sandite Spirit Award

At the May Sand Springs Board of Education meeting, the board presented the Sandite Spirit Award to Charles Page High School Student Allie Wright.

Allie, who is a member of the Cherokee Nation, was recognized for writing and illustrating a book based on her favorite traditional story, “Why the Opossum’s Tail is Bare.” She was nominated by Director of Sand Springs Indian Education Susanne Sanders for creating “an incredible piece of work she then shared with kindergarten students.” You can view excerpts from her book here.

Congratulations, Allie! Thank you for sharing your work and being a shining example of Sandite Excellence.
