This week, our FACS students poured their creativity and gratitude into making dozens of heartfelt thank-you cards for veterans participating in the Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight.
The Warriors Honor Flight is part of a nationwide program that honors America’s veterans by flying them—free of charge—to Washington, D.C. for a daylong visit to the memorials built in their honor. These flights prioritize veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, giving them the chance to reflect, remember, and receive the recognition they deserve. Each flight is filled with powerful moments, from the tours of the memorials to the warm welcome home celebration.
Our students’ cards were included as part of this special experience, giving veterans a tangible reminder that their service and sacrifice are not forgotten. For the veterans, opening a note from a young student often brings smiles (and sometimes tears). For our students, it was a chance to connect across generations and practice gratitude in a real and meaningful way.
It’s one of those projects where a simple piece of paper can carry a whole lot of heart — and we’re proud of our students for making that impact.
