In Mrs. Anderson’s Physical Science class, students recently took on one of her famous Mystery Experiments — hands-on challenges designed to spark curiosity and show how science connects to the real world.
This week’s mystery involved a fizzy mix of baking soda, dish soap, and vinegar — ingredients that might sound like kitchen staples, but together they create a chemical reaction that demonstrates the release of carbon dioxide gas. Students observed bubbling, foaming, and a little bit of controlled chaos (the fun kind!) as they explored how different substances interact to form new products.
These spontaneous experiments pop up throughout the semester, giving students a chance to test predictions, ask questions, and learn through discovery. Judging by the excitement in the room, science was definitely bubbling over!
