You may have heard your freshman mention “ICE” — but what exactly is it?
ICE is a structured time built into our school day between 5th and 6th hours that gives students an opportunity to get help, catch up, or try something new.
Teachers can use ICE for reteaching, extra academic support, make-up work, or time to finish assignments. On other days, students who don’t need academic support can choose from enrichment sessions offered by our staff.
And those choices can be pretty fun!
This year, ICE sessions have included American Indian Student Association, Funny Videos, Get Fit, multiple Bible studies, Silent Reading, Card & Board Games, Catch Phrase, Read, Draw, Create!, Legos, Youth & Government, and FCA. The choices continue to change as new sessions rotate in throughout the year.
The goal is simple: give students a little extra time in the school day to get what they need — whether that’s mastering a concept, finishing an assignment, exploring an interest, or connecting with others.
It may just be the coolest part of the school day. 😉🧊
