CHARLES PAGE FRESHMAN ACADEMY STUDENTS WIN SANDITE CHEF COMPETITION

In May, Sandite Child Nutrition held its annual Sandite Chef competition. Charles Page High School/Freshman Academy FCCLA students formed six teams of two to put their culinary skills to the test. Students were given three secret ingredients that had to be incorporated into their improvised recipes: Brussels sprouts, mango, and polenta.

Dishes were scored by our panel of judges: Sand Springs Mayor Jim Spoon, Sand Springs City Councilor/HillSpring Church Associate Pastor Matt Barnett, Chef Callie Farish of Cooking for Kids, Assistant Principal Ryan Bivin, and Superintendent Sherry Durkee. Dishes were scored in four categories: taste, presentation, creativity, and overall.

Congratulations to all the contestants, who made some DELICIOUS dishes. And congratulations to the students who placed!

  • 1st Place: Kylee Bailey and London Whittington
  • 2nd Place: Layla Lenex and Tehya Johnson
  • 3rd Place: Lauryn Converse and Mykenzie Cole
