CMBS/SGC ParentsGuardian IMPORTANT NOTICE ***UPDATED (SEE THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE)*** Chromebook & Charger Drop Off; Locker Clean Out; & Book Return Information. When: Mon., May 18 & Tues., May 19: Times: 1-6 PM (Please follow specific directions below.) Chromebook & Charger Drop Off: Current 8th grade students and any 6 or 7th grade students that will be moving and/or not returning to Clyde Boyd next school year. Return your Chromebook to the main entrance of Boyd. You will tie the Chromebook and charger in a bag provided and leave it on a table. No more than 10 at a time allowed. Please follow social distancing. Note: 6th & 7th Grade students who ARE returning to CBMS next year, DO NOT need to turn in your Chromebook at this time. Locker Clean Out: 6-8th grade will be allowed to retrieve their belongings from their lockers. 10 at a time b/c of “social distancing” to come into the front entrance of either the SGC or 7/8th gr. Entrance. Student’s will only be allowed to get things out of their lockers. Bring something to put all the contents of your locker in. This will need to be a quick process. You can go through everything at home. Book Drop Off: All textbooks. Library books, and books borrowed from teachers need to be returned. There will be tables to leave your books. Please be patient and allot for extra time to get personal things out of the building because we are following CDC guidelines. CBMS/SGC Yearbook, Pictures, Lockers & Chromebook Return Spring picture pick up will be next week (May, 18 - 22) during lunch pick up times at the front entrance to Clyde Boyd, from 11:00-12:30 am, Monday through Friday. You will need to know your student's science teacher and hour. If your student was at school on picture day, they had pictures made, so if you didn't get a chance to order before, you can pick up their proofs and still place an order. Yearbook delivery will be sometime this summer. Due to the printing plant being closed down, our delivery date has been pushed back. It will probably be sometime in late July, or early August. We will let you know as soon as we know. You may still purchase a yearbook at https://www.yearbookordercenter.com/. Student locker clean up is still delayed until further notice. We will open up the building for students to retrieve their belongings when it is safe. It must be critical for a student to gather their belongings. Chromebook return procedures will be posted soon. CBMS/SGC Yearbook/Spring Picture Update: The CBMS yearbook staff wants parents and students to know that the 2020 yearbook is almost complete. Some of the spring sports content will be limited, but will be covered. We are currently waiting to hear from our printer to see when they will be back in operation. As soon as we have a print date, we'll let you know when & how distribution will take place. Here are a few of frequently asked questions: 1. What if my child forget their ChromeBook password? Please contact the IT help desk at 918-246-1599 Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 4:00PM. If you need to send in a request for assistance outside of those times, please email helpdesk@sandites.org. 2. Who do I contact if my child is having problems with their school device or the school device needs a repair? If your child is having problems with their school-issued Chromebook, please contact the IT help desk at 918-246-1599 Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 4:00PM. If you need to send in a request for assistance outside of those times, please email helpdesk@sandites.org. School issued ChromeBooks in need of repair can be dropped at Central Ninth Grade Center - CNGC Monday-Friday between 11:00AM and 12:30PM in the same location as the Sandite Child Nutrition meal distribution. CDC guidelines indicate that the Covid-19 virus can live on surfaces for up to 72 hours. In keeping with these guidelines, any ChromeBooks turned in for repair will sit in a secure, isolated location for 72 hours before repair begins. When the repair is complete, IT will call the number provided during drop off and the device can be retrieved during the same 11:00AM to 12:30PM window the following business day from the phone call. #distancelearning #SanditesTogether #oklaed

Distance Learning Access Informaton: I hope all of you are safe and healthy. As you know Distance Learning will kick-off Monday, April 6th. Students should hear from their teachers soon. Students may access google classroom via chromebooks. desktops, laptops, smart phones, iPads, tablets, Xboxes or PlayStations. I know some of you might need internet service during this time. If you need internet service, please check out these options at sandites.org. You may also access our district guest WIFI in your vehicle at any SSPS school or office parking lot. Also, some Sand Springs businesses have free WIFI. We want to provide the opportunity for all students to be engaged in learning. We have some options for students that are not able to access google classroom on any device: We can email weekly packets to families to print. We can mail packets to families. (Mailed packets will be a week behind) NOTE: Due to the current shutdown, students will not return packets. Important information for SSPS families from Superintendent Durkee. Dear Sandite Families, As we prepare to embark on our Distance Learning Plan, I wanted to give you a few updates as we begin a week of preparation with our teachers. We are incredibly proud of our Sandite staff as it is crystal clear how much they care about your children. Of course information will be updated as we get closer to the end of the week. As we launch on April 6, the best connection for you will be your child’s teacher(s). The best way to connect with teachers is through their Sandite email. We ask staff to answer email within 24 hours; however, please have patience as the number of emails will likely be compounded during this time. Continue to check your own email, district text messages, district social media sites and our website www.sandites.org for updates. To simplify contacting your child’s teacher, teacher webpages are a work in progress and will be available on April 6. No doubt this is a learning experience for all of us. We are finding new ways to meet and collaborate, and in that process, have stretched ourselves far beyond our imagination. Here are some essential guidelines for you to know: Your child’s teacher will be contacting them regarding online learning. We will not be taking attendance. Grades can go up, but can not go down from where your students were as of March 12. Please work with your child’s teacher with any questions regarding grades. Final grade reports will be issued to all students and transcripted as normal. We will make sure our high school students are not hindered in any way as they prepare for post-secondary options. We are working on a plan for device checkout for online learning access. The purchase of hot spots is an obstacle for the District due to a shortage from vendors at this time. We are asking for your patience regarding this process as we work through the details this week. We will have work packets available, potentially through the mail, for students who struggle with access to a device or the internet. If you are so inclined and these services are available in your area, please take advantage of the options for internet service through Cox, AT&T or some other provider. Some are free for the next two months. This information can be found through the COVID-19 link on our Sandite website. The next few weeks are about keeping your children connected to learning while providing engaging activities and enrichment. We want to partner with you in guiding your child’s learning. Allow us to be helpful while not adding stress to this difficult and unprecedented situation. We also know many of you may be eager to pick up your student’s personal belongings. The COVID-19 link on the Sandite district website is still active and continually changing. The recommended guidance for social distancing and building occupancy is updated continuously as the COVID-19 situation changes. Picking up belongings may be delayed. If there are critical items you need now, contact your site administrator to arrange an appointment. It is best to arrange this through an email rather than a phone call. Our Child Nutrition Department will continue to serve breakfast and lunch each day, Monday through Friday. We will serve all children, ages 18 and under, whether they are a current Sand Springs Public Schools student or not. Please continue to spread the word that these are available to all students. Please remember the overall goal of this abrupt change is maintaining public health and preventing the spread of COVID-19. Please, please, please continue to practice CDC recommendations with social distancing and hand washing. We appreciate your patience in this time of uncertainty.
