This afternoon, Sand Springs Public Schools announced the selection of 10 eighth-grade students for EDGE: Earn a Degree, Graduate Early, a partnership between SSPS and Tulsa Community College. Students who complete the program will graduate with both a high school diploma and an associate degree from TCC at no cost to the student. By graduation, participants are positioned to pursue a bachelor’s degree two years ahead of many of their peers.
Selected students will begin college preparatory coursework in ninth grade. During grades 10–12, they will earn college credit while still in high school. SSPS provides additional support, including on-campus tutoring, to help students succeed in their college classes. TCC also offers specialized college experiences for EDGE students, including orientations, advising sessions, university planning meetings, and workshops to help guide them toward earning their associate degree.
