Sand Springs, Okla.— Charles Page High School (CPHS) teacher Jessica Sprague is one of only 38 teachers in the United States to earn the 2023-24 Outstanding PLTW Teacher Award. This award recognizes educators who demonstrate a strong record of delivering an inspiring and empowering student experience, while expanding access to Project Lead The Way (PLTW) programs and transforming teaching.

PLTW is honoring Sprague for her work in the PLTW Engineering pathway. She has been a teacher at CPHS for five years and teaches engineering courses for students in grades 9-12.

“We are thrilled for Mrs. Sprague to receive this honor,” said Sherry Durkee, superintendent of Sand Springs Public Schools. “She is immensely inspiring to both her students and colleagues, and we are proud to call her a Sandite!”

In the past year, Sprague received recognition locally as the 2022-23 CPHS Teacher of the Year and District Teacher of the Year.

"Celebrating great teaching and learning is one the most important things we do at Project Lead The Way. Our network of educators across the U.S. provides students with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in today's STEM-driven world," said Dr. David Dimmett, PLTW President and CEO. "We recognize and congratulate these educational leaders and are proud of the work they do to ensure all students have learning experiences that excite and prepare them for future careers."

SSPS utilizes PLTW curriculum at every grade level. PLTW programs at CPHS include engineering, biomedical, and computer science courses. Each year PLTW honors outstanding teachers and administrators across the network who play an immeasurable role to prepare students to thrive in college, careers and beyond.
