Makayla Crownover and Nate Bolte receive Sandite Spirit Awards

At the March Sand Springs Board of Education meeting, the board presented Charles Page High School seniors Nate Bolte and Makayla Crownover with the Sandite Spirit Award. Nominated by principal Stan Trout, Makayla and Nate were recognized for recent outstanding achievements.

In February, Nate was selected as an Oklahoma Academic All-Stater for the 2022-23 school year. Awarded by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, this honor is given to the top 100 public high school seniors in the state. The seniors selected by OFE will receive a $1,500 merit-based scholarship, honor cord, and medallion.

Makayla Crownover was named the Tulsa Area Debater of the Year by the Tulsa Debate League. This honor came with a $1,000 scholarship. She was also one of eight national finalists competing for Debater of the Year through the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues. In his nomination form, Mr. Trout writes, “Through changes in coaches and uncertainty surrounding the program, Makayla and her Debate teammates have excelled and carried the program to new heights. Makayla, Coach Andrea Campfield, and all of the CPHS debaters are to be congratulated for their grit and perseverance.”

Congratulations to Nate and Makayla! Thank you for your outstanding hard work and representing Sandite Spirit.  #REIMAGINE23
