Angus Valley Elementary Employees receive Sandite Pacesetter Award

At the March Sand Springs Board of Education meeting, the board presented eight Angus Valley Elementary employees with the Sandite Pacesetter Award. Parents Mose and Tonya Richardson nominated Jerie Carter, Chris Corbin, Stephanie Forister, Angela Hobson, Erin Kastler, Sara Matherly, Kasey Willden, and Brooklynn Zickefoose.

Mr. and Mrs. Richardson’s daughter, Myla, is a fourth grader at Angus Valley. In January, she experienced a medical emergency and lost consciousness for several minutes after recess. The employees receiving this award were instrumental in stabilizing Myla, getting her the help she needed from first responders, and taking care of the students who witnessed the incident. These employees’ actions following the incident were remarkable as well. They helped students process their feelings, and Myla continued to receive extra attention and medical care once she returned to school.

In their nomination form, the Richardsons write, “A ‘thank you’ is not anywhere near enough… We are so incredibly grateful to be a part of the Angus Valley family where our kids are guided by amazing leaders and loved beyond measure.”

Thank you to these Angus Valley Elementary employees for their swift action and dedication to our students’ wellbeing! Our thoughts and well wishes are with Myla and her family.
