From Left to Right: Principal Terri Lee, Student Hunter Herrington, Board Member Jackie Wagnon

At the September Sand Springs Board of Education meeting, the board gave the Sandite Spirit Award to three Sand Springs students.

Hunter Herrington - Limestone Technology Academy

Limestone Technology Academy student Hunter Herrington was recognized for his eagerness to serve others. Over a weekend in August, Hunter’s family drove by his school and noticed Principal Terri Lee working in the flower bed. He asked his parents to stop the car so he could help pull weeds, which he did for some time. Hunter also helped in his neighborhood after the storm on June 18, 2023. The fourth-grader helped his next-door neighbors clear limbs and debris from their sidewalks, driveways, and porches.

Davien Peyketewa and Miriam Wilbanks - Charles Page High School

Students at Charles Page High School received the Sandite Pacesetter Award for earning academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. Miriam Wilbanks earned the National Indigenous Award, and Davien Peyketewa earned the National African American Recognition Award. These students demonstrated exceptional academic achievement through their grade point average, PSAT scores, and/or AP exams. A third student who also received honors from the College Board will be recognized at next month’s Sand Springs Board of Education meeting.

Congratulations to these outstanding Sandite Spirit Award recipients! Thank you for exemplifying Sandite Excellence. #BeTheLight
