At the November Sand Springs Board of Education meeting, the board presented the Sandite Pacesetter Award to Carlla Trowe, Keri Mackey, Kristi Guardado, and Laura Huffaker.

Ms. Trowe, Ms. Mackey, and Ms. Guardado are part of the Child Nutrition Department. Their nominator, Director of Child Nutrition Sherry Pearson, says these women have shown flexibility and patience during nationwide food shortages, new software implementation, and learning new duties and tasks. “The last year and half has been trying for everyone,” says Ms. Pearson, “and these ladies have shown great caring for their coworkers as they continually strive to help them.”

Northwoods Fine Arts Academy Principal Laura Hamilton nominated Site Nurse Laura Huffaker in recognition of her grace, professionalism, and calm demeanor during stressful situations. Ms. Hamilton recounted a recent event where she went into anaphylaxis, and Ms. Huffaker provided her immediate medical assistance. In her nomination form, Ms. Hamilton says, “She literally saved my life.”

Thank you to these inspiring individuals for demonstrating Sandite excellence! We are truly grateful to have you in our district. #FocusForward22
