At the October Sand Springs Board of Education meeting, the board presented the Sandite Spirit Award to Charles Page High School senior Marquis Harlin.
Director of Athletics Rod Sitton nominated Marquis for his role in running the new scoreboard and Sandite TV football livestreams. In his nomination form, Mr. Sitton writes that Marquis has an “uncanny knowledge of electronics” and volunteers his personal time to travel to away games for livestream production and setup.
Mr. Sitton also writes that when Marquis sees something that needs to be done, he doesn’t wait to be asked; he shows initiative and tackles the task at hand.
