Karen Biggs and Jackie Wagnon give Sandite Spirit Award to Blaise Schrepel

Blaise Schrepel Receives Sandite Spirit Award

At the November Sand Springs Board of Education meeting, the board presented the Sandite Spirit Award to Pratt Elementary student Blaise Schrepel.  Blaise’s principal Karen Biggs nominated him for his bravery while fighting type 3 medulloblastoma—a type of brain cancer.

In her nomination form, Ms. Biggs writes, “He has been through brain surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy… and he is cancer free!! His bravery has always been shown with a smile on his face… Blaise is such a great example of the GRIT it takes to be a Sandite—‘It’s who you want to be.’”

Congratulations, Blaise! Thank you for inspiring us all with your courage. We are proud to call you a Sandite.

Nate Bolte Receives Sandite Spirit Award

At the November Sand Springs Board of Education meeting, the board presented the Sandite Spirit Award to Charles Page High School senior Nate Bolte. Nate’s engineering teacher Jessica Sprague nominated him for designing and modeling a fetal heart for Warren Clinic Maternal Fetal Medicine.

The finished heart model will be used at Warren Clinic Maternal Fetal Medicine as a visual aid when training residents and sonographers, as well as patient education relating to fetal heart defects and development. In her nomination form, Ms. Sprague writes, “I am immensely proud of him for sharing his talent in this capacity and doing so without seeking any special recognition. He is a true innovator and I cannot wait to see the great things he has yet to achieve.”

Congratulations, Nate! Thank you for your contribution to our community and showing Sandite excellence.

Michael Wilson and the Local Church Network Receive Sandite Spirit Award

At the November Sand Springs Board of Education meeting, the board presented the Sandite Spirit Award to Michael Wilson with Church that Matters and the Local Church Network. Mr. Wilson and the network were nominated by SSPS 21st Century Program Coordinator Jamie Conrad for their support of afterschool and summer programming.

In her nomination form, Ms. Conrad states that Mr. Wilson “shares the vision of creating an environment for students to thrive in youth development activities... His passion and drive are contagious, and he pushes me to strive for excellence in our afterschool and summer programming.” Ms. Conrad also states that the Local Church Network “supports our summer programs by providing snacks for our students during the month of June.”

Thank you to Michael Wilson and the Local Church Network for your continued support of 21st Century and Sand Springs Public Schools! We are deeply grateful for your partnership.
