COVID-19 Update

Dear Sandite Families,

As many of you may have seen, the State Department of Education (SDE) just announced a recommendation for the State Board of Education meeting on Wednesday morning to continue the school year as of April 6 without reopening school buildings during the global pandemic. The SDE will propose their Continuous Learning Plan to the State Board of Education for a vote on Wednesday. See the email from State Superintendent Hofmeister here. Please stay tuned for direction from the district and your students classroom teacher(s). We have already been developing a plan of action in the event the State Board votes to continue education for Oklahoma students in this way WITHOUT reopening buildings.

We understand there will be concerns but will work to the best of our ability to provide a quality program to our students. Know we will always put our students first. Please stay tuned to your email, district text messages, district social media sites and our website at www.sandites.org for updates.

I am happy to report our Child Nutrition Department served 361 breakfasts and 361 lunches today. Please spread the word that these are available to students.

We appreciate your patience in this time of uncertainty. It is an incredible honor to serve the students in Sand Springs and we will always strive to provide a quality program with a high degree of integrity.

Best to everyone,

Sherry Durkee, Superintendent
