At the Sand Springs Board of Education's regular June meeting, the board honored an inspiring student and several employees with the Sandite Spirit and Pacesetter Awards. These individuals have gone above and beyond to serve our schools and represent Sandite excellence.
Boston Kissee
Charles Page High School
Boston Kissee has been a Special Olympics partner for the past three years, and his actions continue to inspire those around him. Whether he's cheering on teammates or ensuring every athlete has a moment to shine, Boston leads with compassion and humility. After his first state games, he even donated his own baseball trophies to share with the athletes. This year, officials from the games went out of their way to commend his kindness, teamwork, and commitment to inclusion—traits that reflect the very best of our student body. Boston, thank you for showing others what it truly means to be a Sandite.
Kathy Davis
Charles Page Freshman Academy
Kathy Davis has long been known for her heart for students and passion for teaching—but this spring, she truly embodied the Sandite spirit of service. When the Freshman Academy's Algebra Department faced multiple unexpected absences due to health challenges, Kathy stepped in without hesitation. As a certified teacher and former colleague, she volunteered to assist in classrooms, ensuring students received quality instruction and continuity. Her selfless support helped the team stay true to their guiding principle: “We will do what is best for all students.” We are grateful for Kathy’s dedication and the difference she made when it was needed most.
Building Test Coordinators
Sand Springs Public Schools
State testing season is one of the most demanding times of the year. This spring, our team of Building Test Coordinators rose to the challenge with exceptional grace and professionalism. Congratulations to Lisa Banks, Regan Burnett, Trisha Lawrence (not pictured), Mindy Lee (not pictured), Stephanie McAllister (not pictured), Jana Purcell, Kristen Simpson, Jennifer Smith (not pictured), and Ashley Wise. These educators took on the enormous task of coordinating testing schedules, training proctors, and managing every detail to ensure each student was able to test successfully. Their behind-the-scenes efforts were essential to a smooth and successful testing season, and we are deeply thankful for their dedication.
We are proud to recognize these individuals for their extraordinary contributions. Their actions inspire us all to lead with heart, serve with purpose, and always strive for excellence.
Please join us in celebrating Kathy Davis, our testing coordinators, and Boston Kissee!
