A teacher stands outside with two students during a sunny outdoor activity. The teacher, wearing a bright pink T-shirt and blue shorts, gestures with open hands while smiling. One student in a Sand Springs football jersey holds a mesh enclosure containing butterflies, and another student in a pink dress stands beside them. Other children sit on the pavement watching the demonstration in front of a brick school building.

Limestone Technology Academy students and staff gathered outside last week for their annual Monarch butterfly release! Under the guidance of STEAM Teacher Barbie Jackson, students helped hatch and raise 13 butterflies.

Students cheered and waved goodbye as the butterflies began their migration to central Mexico. This hands-on learning experience taught students all about the life cycle that takes place at Limestone’s Monarch Waystation.
